This Easter Span Arts welcomes Tessa Bide and her truly absorbing storytelling ability, for her performance of The Tap Dancing Mermaid - a magical story about a tippety-top dancer - on Tuesday, March 29, at the Queen’s Hall, Narberth.

With the Moon taking on the role of storyteller, audiences are drawn in as Marina Skippett creeps out of her house every night to shuffle and stomp on the boardwalk to the sounds of the sea.

She can’t tap dance at home anymore since her evil, tractor-sized Aunty banned it! Then one moonlit night, Marina meets a mysterious, watery boy swimming in the sea and her life is never the same again!

Bide has been titled as a “truly amazing one woman power house” (Guide 2 Bristol) for this sensational solo show - a perfect way to welcome in the spring with the whole family.

Featuring stunning puppets, original live music and talented tap dancing that will make the audiences want to stick 50ps to their shoes and join in, The Tap Dancing Mermaid is “just everything a children’s theatre experience should be” (Childplays).

Span Arts dedicates itself to providing lively, engaging theatrical productions during the school holidays, understanding that access to arts from an early age is important for childhood development; the Tap Dancing Mermaid is a prime example, offering entertainment for both children and adults!

Tessa Bide and this one-woman production have been touring since 2013; this Spring sees the swan-song tour of The Tap Dancing Mermaid. It has already toured to theatres and festivals across the country, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015.

Tessa’s commitment to telling original stories through innovative theatre shows - aimed at encouraging a dialogue between the generations - has proved incredibly successful; her shows have received many positive reviews.

Offering group discounts for groups of four, this event makes for a great family day out during the Easter holidays; suitable for ages three - 133! Tickets for the show are available from the Span Arts website at span-arts.org.uk or from Box Office on 01834 869323.
