Last weekend, a 36-hole medal challenge was held over the two days.

Saturday brought mixed fortunes for the field, with the best scores coming from A. Thomas, T. Burkatt and Dean Rawlins with net 73s, Pete Edwards 75, and Brinley Hughes and Garfield Price with 76s.

The blustery conditions, with the odd shower in between, kept the rest of the chasing field a good couple of shots off the leaders.

Sunday brought better conditions, which in turn brought in better returns.

Thomas Burkatt came in with a 74 to go with his 73 to give a clubhouse score of 147, which eventually gave him joint second place along with Garfield Price, who came in with 71 to go with his 76.

Fourth spot went to Dean Rawlins with final total of 148 (73 and 75).

Best scores on the Sunday went to Garry Heesom, net 70, and the winner of the Challenge Cup, Adam Thomas, who also had a net 70 to finish four shots clear of the field with a total of 143 (73 and 70).

Tomorrow (Saturday), an 18- hole stableford competition is being played.

An 18-hole junior competition last Sunday, meanwhile, brought success for Sam Anderson with 34 points. Luke Laidler also had 34 points, but Sam's better back nine gave him top spot.

A Texas Scramble is scheduled for August 29 - teams of three (one lady, two gentlemen). All proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Support. Lists for competitions are on the notice board in the pro shop.
