Trefloyne's Dyfed League team put in one of their best performances of the season in the home match against Rosemarket on Saturday, August 23. Chris Thompson made a welcome return to form, winning 6 and 5 with Steve Wedlake.

Brinley Hughes and Mike Allen, paired together for their first league appearances, won 3 and 2, and there were handsome wins for Walter Witts and Adam Thomas 6 and 5, Mel Beeley and John Smith 5 and 4, Roger Thompson and David Owen 6 and 4, and Roger Cryer and Rob Evans also 6 and 4.

Rosemarket were spared a whitewash when Ivan Kirk and Graham Harrison halved the last match and the result was a satisfying win for Trefloyne by 6.5-.5.

A week later and the league team were again at home, this time to a powerful South Pembs. team who are already confirmed as division three champions and are finalists in the inaugural knockout cup.

This stern test for Trefloyne became all the harder after the first three pairs all lost. Chris Thompson and Steve Wedlake lost 3 and 1, Walter Witts and Adam Thomas went down 5 and 3, and Roger Thompson and David Owen also lost 5 and 3. Brinley Hughes and Meurig Evans, the latter making nine straight pars on the back nine, won 5 and 4, and Chic Brown and Mel Beeley won 2 and 1 to bring the match score back to 2-3. Roger Cryer and Rob Evans earned a half, and with Ivan Kirk and Gary Heesom losing the last game 2 and 1, the final score was Trefloyne 2.5 South Pembs. 4.5.

The Dyfed League home match with Cardigan has been rearranged for Saturday, September 20, tee-off 1 pm.

Trefloyne Seniors travelled to Rosemarket on August 26. Ivan Kirk and Bernard Bradley lost the open, but there were victories for Roger Thompson and Barry Turner, Walter Witts and Derek Jones, Mel Beeley and Brian Norman and John Shaw and Ken Webster. Roger Cryer and Lino Guerro halved their game, before Graham Harrison and John Rolfe, and Pat Corcoran and John Cliff lost the last two games. Result: Rosemarket Seniors 3.5 Trefloyne Seniors 4.5.

Adam Thomas won the stableford on Sunday, August 24, with 39 points and also scored the only two of the day. John Chirnside was second with 35 and Tony Knowles third with 34.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Trefloyne welcome Tenby Golf Club members to the course for the opening 18 holes of the inaugural A. J. Ormond Cup, with the second half of the competition to be played at Tenby a week later.
