The monthly medal, played on Sunday, May 4, was notable for an excellent performance by Steve Wedlake, who won the Tiger division (0-15 handicap) by six shots, having handed in a net 69 (82-13). Rob Evans (87-12-75) was second thanks to a better back nine than Ian Lawrence (86-11-75).

Chris Hicks, third in the April medal, improved to win the Rabbits division (16-24 handicaps) with net 78 (101-23). Again countback separated second and third, with Nigel Owens (98-18-80) just pipping Philip John (104-24-80) for runner-up. There were no 2s.

Rob Evans had bounced back to form a week earlier to win the Saturday stableford on April 26. He finished with a fine score of 38 points, with Andrew Evans second, thanks to a better back nine, on 36. Tied for third, also with 36 points, were Danny Brown and Chris Hicks. Bob Burks and Lawrie McNee each made a two.

Mike Evans continues to play consistently in the midweek stablefords. His winning score on Tuesday, April 29, was 37 points. Roger Cryer was second with 35 and Paul Griffiths third with 31. Roger Thompson won on Thursday, May 1, his 35 points ensuring Roger Cryer, 33 this time, would finish runner-up for the second time in three days. Danny Brown was third with 30.

Trefloyne Seniors' match at Newport, scheduled for yesterday, was cancelled. Their next fixture is at home to South Pembs. next Thursday, May 15.

Trefloyne's Dyfed League team found Cardigan far too strong in the opening division three fixtures of the season on May 3. The home team, relegated from division two last year, made the best of their local knowledge and coped well with the wet, windy conditions, running out 7-0 winners.

Ben Price won the Junior stableford on Sunday, April 27, his second successive victory. He scored 37 points, with Nathan Lewis second on 36 and Matthew McMann third with 32.

The course will be exceptional busy today (Friday), there being a large entry for the Trefloyne Invitation Challenge, and also tomorrow, Captain's Day. The Trefloyne Junior Open on Sunday completes a tremendous weekend of golf.
