Trefloyne entertained South Pembs. in the third round of division three of the Dyfed League on Saturday, June 1 - and what a thriller it turned out to be! The top pairing of Carl French and Clive Deeley lost 2 and 1, team captain Roger Thompson and Rob Evans lost one down, and, with third pair Gerald John and Tom Hilling also losing, 2 down, the hosts were three points in arrears with only four left to play for.

The middle and lower pairs would have to produce something special, and Steve Wedlake and Adam Thomas rose to the occasion, scoring Trefloyne's first point with a good 4 and 3 win. They were followed in by Ivan Kirk and Nathan Lewis, 5 and 4 winners, and Roger Cryer and Phil Catlin, who won a tight game one up. All rested on the last pair, and John Smith and David Owen duly delivered the goods, winning 2 and 1.

Final score: Trefloyne 4 South Pembs. 3.

Congratulations to the Trefloyne team on a fine win; they have now won two out of three in their first season in the league. The next fixture is away to St. Davids on June 22.
