The scoring was predictably excellent in the stableford on Saturday, October 13, which was the first of this winter's competitions to be played off the forward mats, standard scratch having been reduced to 68. Eight players scored 37 or better, the winner (on countback) being Rob Evans with 40. Ian Lawrence, who had won the longest drive at the previous Sunday's Tenby Ladies Circle charity competition at Tenby, continued his good form to finish second. Tom Pollock was third with 39.

Three days later, and the heavy scoring continued, with Rob Evans again in tremendous form, as the romped home in the Tuesday stableford on October 16, with 45 points. Brian Norman was second with 40 and Barry Thorne third with 38.

There are 30 entries already for the autumn eclectic competition, organised by competition director Brian Cowley. The event is played over six weeks, terminating on December 1, and players are able to submit one card per week. Each golfer's best nett score on each hole over the six weeks will be carried forward to a seventh card, with the winner being the one with the lowest nett on the seventh card. There is still time to enter if you wish to join in the fun.

The juniors encountered drizzly conditions for their game on Sunday, October 14, and reduced their planned flag competition to just the back nine holes. Joint winners were Daniel Brace and Ben Edwards, while Nathan Lewis and Adam Thomas finished joint third.
