Talented young Tenby musician Elizabeth Morgan is continuing to aspire as a pianist.

At the recent Abertawe Festival for Young Musicians (AFYM) 2016, nine-year-old Elizabeth, a pupil at Tenby’s St. Teilo’s School, won first place and trophy in her age category. This resulted in her being invited to play in the annual concert at Swansea University on March 20 in front of a 400 capacity audience.

On March 12, at the Bristol Festival of Music Speech and Drama, she came first with trophy and outstanding commendation for her interpretation of Felix Mendelssohn’s Gondellied (Barcarolle) in A major.

On March 16, she gained a distinction in her ABRSM Grade 4 piano practical. She has taken three ABRSM practical exams since beginning piano studies with Jan Hartzell from Saundersfoot at the age of five and has achieved a distinction in all three.

Elizabeth has had several invitations to perform in various charity concerts organised by Rotary, RNLI, Fishguard International Music Festival, and others.

Her ambition is to join her sister at Wells Cathedral School, one of only five independent specialist music schools in the UK, and later to enter music college. She is currently especially interested in musical composition and has started making up her own scores.
