Having been closed for just over two years, Tabernacle United Reformed Church in Main Street, Pembroke, is once again opening its doors.

This magnificent Grade II building was built in 1867 and its spire can be seen from various points around Pembroke.

The building had, however, grown tired over the years and was in need of care and attention.

In the care of architects Morgan and Horowskyj, the fine church has been brought back to life with careful renovation and the addition of an extension at the rear.

New glass doors now enable all to see within, and following the first service led by Rev.Nanette Lewis-Head, on Sunday, at 11 am, an open day welcomes everyone on Saturday, December 2, between10 am and 4 pm.

There will be an opportunity to see the new meeting room, extension and other facilities, including the Tabernacle Kindergarten and stop for a cup of tea and light refreshment at no charge.

This is a multi-purpose building for the use of the community throughout the week, days and evenings, alongside the workshop aspect.

Further to the open day, ‘Our Open Doors’ will be a celebration in music and words on Sunday, December 3, at 3 pm, again followed by refreshments.

This has been a mammoth undertaking for a small dedicated group of faithful people who now wish to invite everyone to join them to celebrate the return to the church.

During the church renovations, Sunday services were held at Foundry House 21C and the Tabernacle fellowship have been grateful for their co-operation.
