A group of fundraisers getting set to take on a charity walk for a young local mother who is battling against cancer, have been kitted out in their sponsored T-shirts.

Family and friends of 27-year-old Ruth White, of Tenby, who is suffering from recurrent cervical cancer, have started fundraising to help fund a 'stereotactic radiotherapy' procedure to aid her.

The procedure has been available in the UK for about a year, but availability is limited and expensive, as it is not provided on the NHS.

A sponsored walk will take place on Sunday, June 26, starting off at 11 am, from the Salterns car park in Tenby, then onto Wiseman's Bridge, before heading to Kilgetty. Those taking part in the walk have been asked to wear purple, as it's Ruth's favourite colour.

The fundraisers will also be selling the purple 'A Chance For Ruth' t-shirts to raise funds. A new website has also been set up at http://www.achanceforruth.co.uk">www.achanceforruth.co.uk to let people know of further fundraising activities and how to donate.

Friends and family of Ruth also held their first prize bingo session this week and there will be another bingo session next Wednesday at Tenby Rugby Club at 7.30 pm.

The group will also soon be kickstarting the bidding on a Casualty t-shirt (people can also bid on A Chance For Ruth Facebook page) which has been kindly donated by Tenby actor Charles Dale and has been signed by 90 per cent of his fellow cast.
