Pembrokeshire's young swimmers made quite a splash at this year's Welsh Summer National competition.

Forty swimmers from the county qualified for the annual event held at the national pool in Swansea.

Competing against swimmers from England and Scotland - as well as Wales - county swimmers came home with 22 medals, including nine gold, eight silver and five bronze.

Among the winning swimmers were Tesni Galvin, Hollie Thomas, Isabelle Davies and Jonathan Orchard, who also broke championship records.

In total, 19 Pembrokeshire swimmers competed in 69 finals with 82 personal bests achieved.

Seven swimmers qualified for the Welsh Regional Squad including Carys Thomas, Hollie Thomas, Isabelle Davies, Kelsey Williams, Hannah Saunders, Daniel Thomas and Michael Hire.

Paul Dowey, Pembrokeshire County Council's swimming development coach said the young team had done extremely well smashing last year's medal haul.

"Although It was a tough finish to the season we now aim to build on this success and I am very excited about what the new year will bring for swimming in our county.

"I'd also like to thank all the volunteers who have helped out over the last season at club and county level."
