A glorious day for football and Kilgetty were hoping to turn the tables on Monkton who beat them 8-0 on the opening day of the season - albeit Kilgetty only had eight players on that occasion.

From the start, it was Kilgetty who took a hold of the game and although they were playing some good passing football, were unable to break the deadlock. After one flowing move down the left, with Dan Lynch and Jason Jones combining well, the ball was whipped in to be met on the volley by Robbie Brookes, but the ball came back off the bar and was cleared by the Monkton defence.

Kilgetty continued to push forward and, although the visiting 'keeper was in outstanding form, he could do nothing when Curtis Harris slipped the ball past him to break the deadlock after about 30 minutes.

After this, Monkton had one of their best spells of the game and after a mix-up in the Kilgetty defence the ball was dispatched into the top corner of the net, giving Luke Gregory no chance.

Kilgetty reasserted themselves after this, but no further goals were added by half-time.

The second half continued in the same fashion as the first, with Kilgetty unable to score despite controlling the game. It looked as if their luck would change when they were awarded a penalty after Dan Lynch was brought down in the box. Dan picked himself up, only to see his penalty saved by the Monkton 'keeper.

Kilgetty finally regained the lead when some excellent play by Jack Bevan saw the ball played through to Adam Hughes who stroked it home for a very deserved winning goal. He then celebrated with a great impression of Michael Jackson's moonwalk.

Monkton threw everything at Kilgetty in the last five minutes, but the defence held strong for a good win.
