Tenby’s doctor surgery has decided not to act on the suggestion to have a bench situated outside the practice for anyone having to wait in a queue.
At a recent meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas said that she would still like to see a bench sited outside the surgery, after the idea had been touted by a resident in a letter to the Observer, and that the town council would happily source a seat for the facility.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of the council, members received correspondence from the practice manager, Helen Roberts.
“The practice is very grateful for your kind offer, however it has to take into account the health and safety issues surrounding the disabled, wheelchair, emergency and ambulance access, both internally and externally of the building,” she wrote.
“We are working to eradicate any need for our patients to feel they have to queue for an appointment, however as you area aware, this is at a time when both the NHS and the practice are under considerable pressures,” she added.
Responding the the letter, Clr. Will Rossiter said he felt that that there was ‘plenty of room’ outside the surgery for a bench.
“You do have to queue some times down the surgery first thing in the morning, but it may be a case of the early bird catches the worm,” added Clr. Trevor Hallett.
