Sir,

Once again we have the supermarket and business park development at New Hedges coming before the County Council and National Park. This development has been rejected in the past, so what has changed.

Holidaymakers come to this area because of its unspoilt beauty, something different from what they see at home day in and day out, so imagine what they would think as they are arriving, not the beauty of Pembrokeshire that they have seen in their holiday brochures, but a sprawling Tesco supermarket and business park, just like they see at home.

Do we not have enough supermarkets in the area with the proposed redevelopment of the Co-op at Kilgetty and the revamping of Somerfield into a Sainsbury supermarket in Tenby, both in existing locations.

But it would seem that Tesco, who already have supermarkets at Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven, Haverfordwest and Carmarthen, now have to develop this area of green land. It would seem this is the only corner of the area that Tesco don't have, but must have at all costs, even if they have to keep coming back again and again, and even if it means ruining the beautiful and green gateway to Tenby and Saundersfoot.

I hope the planning authorities will remember that they have rejected this application in the past and, should it come before them again, why should it now be accepted.

Dave McGrath,

Tenby.
