Superheroes Batman and Superman are encouraging schools, work colleagues and community groups to sign up for Ty Hafan Day on Friday, May 1, and help raise funds for the family hospice for young lives.

The dynamic duo comprises of Connor Russ (Superman) from Narberth, who has been going to Ty Hafan since it first opened its doors 10 years ago, and dad, Peter (Batman), who is a regular participant in events such as the 5K runs.

Registrations have already reached almost 200 and are coming in from imaginative schools, work colleagues and community groups who have come up with novel ways to raise money for Ty Hafan's big fund-raising event of the year.

"This year, Ty Hafan is celebrating its 10th anniversary and we are hoping that as many individuals or groups as possible will sign up to do something to raise money for Ty Hafan Day," said Lorraine Rees, head of community fund-raising.

The children and staff at Ty Hafan are also beginning to plan their own Superhero week and are looking forward to some fun activities based around their favourite characters.

So why not join in the fun and help to make Ty Hafan Day 2009 a huge success to ensure the hospice can continue to provide care and support to the families from across Wales who need it.
