A warm sunny May morning saw 33 members of the Steps2Health group meet at New Hedges Village Hall to retrace their steps back to Tenby, not by the busy main road, but along the leafy lanes, now quiet and almost forgotten, but once the main route into town in the days of horse-drawn vehicles (writes B.S.). There was a choice of routes, each one a pageant of springtime colour. The faster walkers, accompanied by Brian and Peter, took a more circular route, heading down towards the secluded pretty little beach of Waterwynch. They then headed under a canopy of May blossom up the steep winding path leading over the North Cliff. This may have stopped the chatter, but it allowed them to hear the birds singing. Well worth the climb to be rewarded with such tranquil views of Tenby harbour. Then downhill all the way to Church House. The Steady Eddies, with Val, Janice and Erica, took a more direct route past Turnpike Cottage and Brynhir. They, too, were serenaded by birdsong and impressed by the many varieties of colourful wild flowers. Reluctant to leave the sunshine, many walkers chose to sit outside in the garden of Church House, where Tenby Male Choir was holding their coffee morning. It was not only coffee they enjoyed as many were tempted to have one of the homemade cakes with their drink. Well, the walk had sharpened the appetite! The walkers also carried off many of the lovely raffle prizes. Tomorrow (Saturday) meet 10.30 Upper Park Road for a town walk followed by coffee at Clarence Hotel.
