There was plenty of summer fun on Tenby Harbour on Sunday, making it the place to be for thousands for the second of Tenby Round Table's ever-popular Party by the Beach.

Unfortunately, Tablers had to take the difficult decision to cancel the first of the Kiln Park sponsored 'Parties' two weeks previously due to adverse weather conditions.

However, it was a different story this time around, with the sun putting in a rare appearance to smile down on a packed programme of fun for all the family.

"It was an amazing day," said Table chairman, Dave Booton. "We were absolutely delighted with the turnout. It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves and helping us to help others at the same time.'

The 'Party' started in Tudor Square with the drums and dancers of Samba Tawe, accompanied by stilt walkers and jugglers, leading the crowds down towards the harbour and the official opening by Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.

The Chevron sponsored stage thrilled to a variety of live acts, including Story with Rory and Summer High, generously provided by main sponsors Kiln Park, a magic show and the fleet-footed youngsters of the Seren School of Irish Dance, while local DJ 'Wacky' Wayne Wharton, who emceed proceedings so ably throughout the day, kept the party atmosphere bubbling.

Tenby's auxiliary coastguard again gave a faultless display of their cliff rescue skills, while Tenby lifeboat the Haydn Miller also made a splash at the event.

The fun continued with an eclectic mix of live music from local bands Ella Guru, Soundscape and Deep Joy, until the traditional climax of the event, a spectacular firework display.

In addition to all the live entertainment, there was also plenty to see and do for all the family, including side shows and stalls managed by local charities, bouncy castles, surfboard rides, gladiator contests, face painting courtesy of Heatherton, refreshments, including pig roasts, burger stalls, crepes, Welsh cakes hot off the griddle, a licensed bar, and much, much more.

The event was to be Tenby Round Table's main fund-raiser for the year, with all money raised being donated to local charities and organisations for the benefit of the local community.

"My fellow Tablers and all our volunteers worked tremendously hard, both in the build up to, and during, the event, and I must thank them all for all their efforts," said Dave.

"There were so many people who all gave us a hand and it would be wrong to single out any individuals for the risk of offending anyone I miss, but I hope they all realise just how much both I and the rest of Tenby Round Table appreciate their efforts on our behalf.

"May I also thank everyone else involved and all our sponsors, particularly our main sponsors, Kiln Park, for their support. Thanks also to everyone in and around the harbour for their tolerance in allowing us to stage the events once again," he continued.

"It's always touch and go when you stage an open-air event like this because it's so dependant on the weather, as we saw two weeks ago, but we're happy to put them on to give something back to Tenby for the way Tenby supports Table.

"Luckily, the weather was with us this time, making for a cracking crowd who all seemed to enjoy themselves while helping worthy charities and local good causes at the same time."
