Recently, at the very beautiful venue of Scolton Manor, Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club held its Annual Car Show. On what was a lovely sunny day, there were over 450 cars on display at this very popular event.

Approximately 80 motorcycles also attended, as the local firm of Garland and Griffiths were celebrating their 25th year in business.

Other exhibits included stationary engines, tractors, commercial vehicles, military vehicles, craft stalls, car boots sales, trade stalls, auto jumble, bouncy castles and various other stalls and amusements.

The lady members also did their best to make this event a big success, with their freshly baked Welsh cakes, lucky numbers stall with lots of prizes and the well-known cake stall. There was also a 'name the puppy' raffle, which was won by Mrs. Ruth Shepherd, of Neyland.

All the cars gleamed as the sun shone down on them; their proud owners had polished them to perfection, and it showed. These cars are looked after so well by their owners and the pride they have in them can be seen by the way these cars are kept in pristine condition; just talking to the owners will give you an insight into their world of older cars and the love they have for them.

The event was very well attended by the public and everyone seemed to have a really good time.

The food outlets had very nice fresh food, hot and cold, on offer, together with hot and cold drinks.

Main sponsor this year was Mr. Paul Crimlis, of 'Freemans' vehicle repair specialists, together with Chevron. Thanks go to them for all their support during the event.

The donations for this year will be split between two local charities, with an additional donation to a local disabled members bowling club.

Aerial photographs of the event were taken from a light aircraft by Mr. Paul Harrison, while many others were taken by club members.

Commentary for the show was provided, as usual, by the very capable Mr. Dave Saunders - thanks Dave.

Trophies were awarded to the following people by Mr. Frank Courie:

The Freeman Cup (Best Car in Show) - John Williams, of New Moat, for his 1926 snub nose Morris lightweight van.

The Derek James Memorial Cup (for a Pembrokeshire registered car) - Mr. Lionel Rossea, of Swansea, for his 1968 MGB T GT.

Best members car in show - Mr. Gary Davies from Cardigan, with his lovely 1966 Vauxhall Victor 101 ambulance.

Well done to all the winners and hopefully all will be back next year.

Thanks go to everyone who helped on the day - without their support there would be no show; also to Mary Blight (show secretary) and Mr. Patrick Hay (show chairman) for all their hard work.
