To celebrate the reopening of its workshop space, Span Arts is presenting a series of free workshops in arts, crafts, drama, music and dance for children every Tuesday and Thursday during August.
Supported by the Arts Council of Wales and The Big Lottery Fund, and building on a rich history of community projects and workshops, Span Arts will be throwing open the doors of its Narberth office on the Town Moor, to offer a diverse variety of quality workshops led by professional leaders.
Suitable for all levels of skill and ability, the workshops will include a range of activities for children aged four years-plus.
From clay modelling, felt hat making, and printing, to painting, lantern making, African drumming, drama and dance, there is something for everyone. A great opportunity to develop a child's creativity and do something different this summer.
Each week will feature a different theme, like 'Myths and Legends' or 'Out of Africa', with workshops offering everything from the chance to make a pirate's treasure chest out of recycled materials, print a t-shirt with your very own design to take home, or learn how to make an African mask.
For the older kids and adults, Span Arts is excited to present Ollie Heath from Tribal Groove, who'll be demonstrating the skills of 'African Body Percussion', an incredible form of movement that combines dancing and making music, using your body like a drum-kit to create intricate rhythms that look difficult and will amaze your friends.
As a special bonus, Indigo Moon Theatre puppetry will be performing Aladdin in a magical, mythical, special 50 minute shadow puppet show at the Queens Hall on Monday, August 8, following a free morning workshop, when your child gets to make a puppet of their own.
Places for all workshops are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment. A small booking fee applies. To book contact Span Arts on 869323. For more details, visit their website http://www.span-arts.org.uk">www.span-arts.org.uk
