THE summer open exhibition that ends in the annual auction was opened recently and will run until Sunday, July 28, at Oriel Q - Queen's Hall Gallery, Narberth.
Over 90 pieces are on display and one of the stars of the show is a lovely large watercolour and ink painting of Thorn trees by the late Arthur Giardelli.
This is a fine example of his much-loved Pembrokeshire landscapes and it is hoped that this will be an added attraction to bring people from far and wide to enjoy this popular annual event.
Regular contributors, Andrea Kelland, Ruth Sargeant, Martin White, Warren Heaton, Christine Kinsey and Elisabeth Haines, are some of the 50 artists who have contributed two or three pieces at below the normal selling price.
There are paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures of flowers, animals, land and seascapes, abstracts and still-life studies. The reserves start from just £20 to a staggering £1M and auctioneer Osi Rhys Osmond, who is patron of the Friends of Oriel Q, will have a field day with the variety of work to auction. You can view all this online at http://www.orielqueenshallgallery.org.uk">www.orielqueenshallgallery.org.uk or better still go and see this vibrant collection and enjoy the quirkiness, the beauty, the craft and sheer vitality of these talented artists.
The gallery will be open Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as the usual Wednesday to Saturdays, from 10 am - 5 pm, and just in case you can't make it to the highly entertaining auction, it's worth leaving a sealed bid either at the gallery or on line where there is a simple form to fill in. Last year, one third of the sales went to people who had left a bid and the organisers say they will deliver anywhere, so please go and support them and pick up a bargain, or/and a treasure!
