NEXT Wednesday, August 17, Span Arts and Narberth Jazz present Stan Sulzman, with the Brian Waite Trio at the Waterfront Club, Quay Street, Haverfordwest (now renamed CUBA) A summer jazz treat with a giant of the British jazz scene. British sax star Stan Sulzman has played with many of the big names in jazz. He studied at the Royal Academy whilst working with John Dankworth, Mike Gibbs and Graham Collier. He was a member of the John Taylor Sextet with Kenny Wheeler and both have influenced his music. The Stan Sulzmann Quartet with John Taylor, Ron Mathewson and Tony Levin worked for 10 years playing his own compositions. He was a guest soloist with the Hilversum Radio Orchestra and the NDR Big Band. the Sultzmann/Taylor duo toured in Germany, Sweden and Finland. He writes and plays for the London Jazz Orchestra, the European Jazz Ensemble and the Alleric Saxophone Quartet with Evan Parker, Julian Arguelles and Ray Warleigh.
