The Pembrokeshire Darwin Science Festival have started their 2007/8 festival year with a return to summer field events. Due to the restructuring of the charity, the field events were regrettably omitted from the 2006/7 festival calendar. This summer has seen members of the general public enjoy field trips to St. Brides Haven (rock pooling), Brynberian (Damsels and Dragons), Barafundle (cave exploration) and Carn Meini (Preseli Hills). Each field event was led by a local expert and was attended by local people and holidaymakers alike; one family were on holiday from Switzerland. The response of the participants was very positive and Darwin intend to have a full menu of field events for spring, summer and autumn 2008. Please watch out for information on lectures, workshops and events with Darwin in the meantime. Project co-ordinator Marten Lewis would like to thank Peter Brown, Sid Howells (CCW), Mari Williams (Keep Wales Tidy) and Phil Wensley (Dale Fort, FSC) for their expertise and support. And a special thank you to the members of the public that have helped relaunch the field event calendar.
