Councillors have called for residents to be consulted on plans to move an electricity substation in Tenby.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk Andrew Davies said that he had received information from Western Power Distribution for the renewal of a substation just off Heywood Lane.
Mr. Davies explained that the plan seemed to be to move a substation at Leach Way and erect a new one with a grass verge at Rosemount Gardens just across the road seemingly the preferred option.
“WPD have made contact with Pembrokeshire County Council and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, and hope to carry out the work in April,” he said.
Clr. Laurence Blackhall asked as to whether residents in the locality had been consulted, but Mr. Davies stated that he didn’t believe so.
“That substation is very noisy at the moment,” stated Clr. Mrs. Sam Skyrme-Blackhall, with the Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown agreeing that it would be a good idea to inform the residents first of any such work.
“Perhaps if any resident from the immediate area comes into our offices on this, we can gather their responses and pass them on,” suggested Clr. Blackhall.
