Mrs. Mary Davies, sub-postmistress at Tavernspite Post Office, near Whitland, retires next month after serving the community since February 1975.

Mrs. Davies ends her 26 year service at the post office in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, June 5. New sub-postmistress, Mrs. Dawn Llewellyn, will take over at new premises across the road from Thursday, June 7.

The post office will be open between 9 am to 5.30 pm on Monday and Thursday and between 9 am and 12 noon Tuesday and Friday.

Dave Hazell, retail network manager, said: "We'd like to thank Mrs. Davies for her hard work and commitment over the 26 years she's been at Tavernspite Post Office. She has tirelessly served her community and we wish her a long and happy retirement.

"We are delighted that we can maintain vital post office services at Tavernspite so close to the original site. We wish Mrs. Llewellyn every success in her new venture," he added.

Customers wishing to transact their business on Wednesday, June 4, are asked to do so at King Edward Street Post Office, Whitland.
