Students from Pembrokeshire College were the victors of intense and strenuous verbal aerobics during a debate at the National Assembly recently. The college team were assigned the topic of European Pharmaceuticals and through careful preparation and consistent hard work they out- debated the opposing team. Assembly Members also found themselves on the end of the students' highly inquisitive and probing questions regarding a variety of current, topical and controversial policies, including the recent failed terrorism bill. The event was part of the European Youth Parliament initiative which seeks to raise young people's understanding of other countries whilst developing and expressing their own opinions through democratic debate. "It was quite a challenge putting all the work together," said team member Greg James, "but it was very enjoyable and very rewarding." "The opportunity to go to the European Youth Parliament was just fantastic," agreed Rachael Hannah Bush. "The day was a very valuable experience and I appreciate the chance to have been involved."
