Well over 30 Steps2Health walkers gathered outside Sainsbury's on Saturday for a local walk (writes B.S.).

Although the height of the holiday season, the busy streets were soon left behind to enjoy the unpolluted air of sea and country.

Being a dry, fresh morning, quite a large number opted to follow walks leader Lyn Evans out to Penally. But, as these walks are designed to suit all levels of fitness, there was also a shorter option. This group, led by walks leader Margaret Lewis, walked as far as Black Rock, before turning left to return along the South Beach.

Walks leader Val Coates-Rees brought up the rear, making sure everyone reached Church House, where the RAFA coffee morning proved to be a very sociable venue to round off the morning. It was also extremely successful for the group, as walker after walker, waving their winning raffle tickets, claimed their prizes in an almost embarrassing haul!

Tomorrow (Saturday), the walk starts approximately 10.50 from Manorbier beach car park. The Silcox 349 leaves from outside Sainsbury's 10.35 am.
