Inspite of yet another wet Saturday morning, a good number of Steps2Health walkers gathered outside Somerfield for the start of a local walk (writes B.S.).

Walks leaders Jill, Barbara, Val and Janice had been careful to plan a route that was dry underfoot and so the group left the town by way of the golf links path to turn left at Black Rock and access the South Beach.

Splitting into two groups, the more energetic proceeded on to Giltar, while the rest returned to Tenby across the beach.

A coffee morning in support of the children's hospice, Ty Hafan, was already in full swing at St. Johns Church, where the Welsh cake makers were also busy, not in the least daunted by the somewhat damp conditions in which they were working in the church grounds.

But inside it was dry and warm for the walkers to enjoy coffee and biscuits in aid of this worthwhile cause.

And already thoughts are turning to the festive season as names are being taken for the Christmas lunch planned for December 13 at Wiseman's Bridge Inn.

But tomorrow (Saturday), the destination is Pembroke where the walk will start from outside the Royal George pub on the quay. Parking is limited on the quay, but there are public car parks in the town. The Silcox 359 bus leaves from outside Somerfield for Pembroke at 10.05 am.
