A fresh, sparkling April morning brought out well over 40 Steps2Health walkers on Saturday (writes B.S.). In spite of its recent drama, the streets of Tenby were very much alive and kicking as Town Criers seemed to be on every street corner accompanied by ladies who appeared to have stepped from a bygone era. These brightly costumed characters also added colour and interest to the RAFA coffee morning in Church House to which some of the walkers repaired to refresh themselves after the hour-long walk. The walks leader was Barbara Morris, while Val Coates-Rees and Lyn Evans kept an eye on the rear of the long trail of walkers who enjoyed the route which gave us everything from sea views to country paths bright with spring flowers. We crossed Kiln Park and the golf course to reach Penally by-pass and then returned via Crossing Cottage and the railway path. In spite of a cool breeze, most were perspiring after climbing the steep hill up to The Jubilee. It was here we parted company. Some walkers made for the Bowling Club coffee morning, while the rest plodded on a little further to Church House. Tomorrow (Saturday) we meet at Penally station car park at 10.30 am for the Giltar walk. The Silcox 349 bus leaves from outside Somerfield at 10.05 am. Do wear sensible footwear!
