The Steps2Health walkers were in fine voice on Saturday (writes B.S.). Over an hour of brisk and extremely pleasurable walking right across the South Beach to Giltar did not leave them too breathless to give a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday in honour of Mrs. Millie Griffiths, the senior member of the Tenby group of walkers. Over cups of tea and coffee in The Fountains Cafe, Millie was presented with a birthday card, signed by all the walkers, and walks leader, Barbara Morris, produced a birthday cake with just one candle for Millie to blow out. Millie was the only participant to turn up for the very first Steps2Health walk organised by the walks co-ordinator in Pembrokeshire Paul Morris back in October 2005. Since then, these popular and highly successful walks have caught the imagination of so many who now look forward to the weekly walk, not only for the exercise in varied and interesting locations, but also for the companionship and enjoyment of being among such sociable company. On Saturday, it was good to welcome Maureen's teenage grandson and also to meet up again with Marilyn and Rob's grandsons who so often join us when here on holiday. Tomorrow (Saturday), we are off to explore Lawrenny. Drivers, meet approximately 11 am, Lawrenny Quay car park. A mini-bus will leave from outside Somerfield 10.30 am. To find out if there are any seats available, ring Paul Morris 07773 788173.
