No surprise to the Steps2Health walkers that the black clouds melted away as soon as they started off on their Saturday morning walk (writes B.S.). A good crowd had assembled outside Somerfield to enjoy a local walk led by volunteer trained walk leader, Lyn Evans, who reminded everyone to take a good look at the newly finished garden on the Esplanade cliff, as it certainly adds an impressive and eye-catching dimension to the area. The walk continued across the golf links path to Black Rock, then past the kilns to Marsh Road, along which we returned to join the RAFA coffee morning at Church House. Unfortunately, they had been a little too quick off the mark with the raffle prizes, so we were not in time to be able to support this worthy cause by buying any tickets! But the coffee and biscuits were much enjoyed. Tomorrow (Saturday) promises much more than a walk, even though that will be rather special as it takes place in the picturesque village of Llangwm. We should meet up with all manner of colourful, interesting and perhaps rather weird characters, as it is the time of year when scarecrows almost outnumber the residents of Llangwm. It is also 'open gardens' day when many of the private gardens, some with their own little jetties at the end, are open to the public. Many of the walkers are planning to travel by their own transport so they can make it a real day out by staying on after the walk to view the gardens. Drivers park in the square in the centre of the village for an 11 am start. To see if there are any available seats on the minibus which leaves from outside Somerfield at 10.30, ring Paul Morris on 07773 788173. And if you wish to book for the Caldey trip for the following Saturday, July 7, please pay your £3 to Val Coates-Rees tomorrow (Saturday). So we very much hope for our usual good weather tomorrow (Saturday) for this special Llangwm festival trip.
