Over two-dozen people turned up for Saturday's Steps2Health Walk (writes B.S.). The route had been planned by volunteer walks leader Lyn Evans, who has completed four London marathons. Fortuntaely, however, Lyn had no plans to take us lesser mortals on a 26-mile route! And we were more than content with the 45 minutes walk which took us across the golf links to Black Rock, where we turned left to access South Beach. November mornings are certainly the best part of these short days and it was in bright fresh weather that we enjoyed our companionable exercise. When the maroon signalled the start of the two- minute silence, the walkers stood motionless on the beach to observe the act of remembrance. Then it was along the sea-front to join an extremely well supported coffee morning at Church House. This week it was in aid of St. Mary's choir. Extra chairs had to be brought in for the walkers. And while enjoying our refreshment, we were intrigued by the 'snake' that Val Coates-Rees had picked up on the beach. An amazing piece of driftwood sculpture, the thin piece of wood was in the shape of a snake from its squiggly tail to its raised head with two eyes and a curve that formed a smiling mouth! To join us for tomorrow's (Saturday) walk, just meet outside Somerfield for a 10.30 am start. Everyone welcome. No charge.
