On Thursday, eight Nordic Walkers arrived at Bosherston car park just as the skies cleared.
They made their way along the western arm, over the grassy bridge, then up to the ‘beehive’ obelisk. They had their coffee stop admiring the lovely view. They continued along the edge of the woods before cutting across Stackpole Warren to the coast path, then returned over the headland to Broadhaven. It was pretty windy, but this part of the walk was both exhilarating and spectacular.
Back on the beach, sheltered from the wind, it was almost warm enough for a picnic. They continued around the other side of the lily pond. The path was littered either side with the trees recently felled for safety reasons, victims of Ash die-back. The walkers were very happy that they had made full use of the sunny interval in a wet and windy week.
Saturday started very wet and windy, so only 25 of the most intrepid walkers made their way to New Hedges village hall. The leaders decided to modify the planned walk routes to try and stay away from the worst of the wind. Kym backed by Chris, led the Speedies through the village towards Tenby. Barbara supported by Pat, followed along with the Steadies. By now the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to peep through the fast moving clouds. In turn the groups reached the top of Sperricomb Lane and continued down the ‘M1’.
Warned on the radio of a downed tree, the Speedies turned off at the top of Seascape and continued through the streets. Barbara led the Steadies through the new cemetery and then down the Old Narberth Road. Unfortunately there was another tree down blocking that path too.

Everyone managed to scramble past the obstacle without undue difficulty. When everyone reached the town they dispersed in search of refreshments. The weather had turned out better than expected, so as ever, the walkers were pleased that their morning out.
Tomorrow (Saturday), there will be a choice of walks starting from Battery Gardens at 10.30 am.
