A WHITLAND mother of six has come second in a television contest, just missing out on the top prize of £10,000.
One of just five new business start-ups chosen to be tracked for a year by BBC Wales, Stephanie Davies's day nursery in Haverfordwest, 'Little Darlings', came head to head with four other businesses that made up the popular reality TV show, 'The Biz'.
A Welsh Development Agency initiative aimed at encouraging people in Wales to see starting their own business as a real life option, 41-year-old Stephanie took 22 per cent of the votes in the live final screened on BBC1 Wales.
From dying her hair bright pink (all in the name of Children in Need) to selling the family home to fund the set-up costs of the business, Stephanie's nursery, 'Little Darlings', has been such a hit in Haverfordwest that she is now making a profit and planning a second 'Little Darlings'.
From her six children at home to the 21 in the nursery daily, Stephanie, who decided to get into business when her husband's livelihood was tragically affected by the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001, has certainly proved that she loves her new job!
