Assembly at Tenby's St. Teilo's School on March 18 was the perfect time for pupils to celebrate St. Patrick's Day - did you know that the Patron Saint of Ireland was born in Wales?
A friend of St. David, pupils were reminded that at the age of 16, robbers kidnapped and enslaved St. Patrick and took him to Ireland to work as a shepherd.
After six years, he is said to have turned to God in despair and escaped back to Britain. However, legend says that he felt called to help pagan Ireland's people, studied to become a priest and returned there to help the people, doing much for their literacy and education.
Dominic Belli, winner of Tenby Observer's Friday Fun colouring competition featuring St. Patrick, told pupils that Ireland used to have a dangerous snake problem back in the 5th Century AD, and that St. Patrick prayed to God to banish the snakes.
Pupils were also treated to an Irish dancing display by Lois Scale, Megan Bridges, Keira Slack, Alanya Thomas, Emma Barley, Josie Dodd, and Madison Neye.
