Members met in Church House on February 17 when the guest speaker was Mrs. Helen Williams, who is an ambassador for the Christian charity, 'Send a Cow.' The charity was set up in 1958, their mission being a world without hunger and poverty.
Mrs. Williams gave an interesting and amusing account of the work of 'Send a Cow.' As is known, many families in Africa struggle to grow enough food to feed their families. The practical solution of the charity - such as providing cows, goats, bees and chickens - helps the African people to rejuvenate their land and their lives.
Nicole thanked Mrs. Williams for her fascinating talk, with members learning how these people, with initial help from 'Send a Cow', were able to support themselves.
Members are reminded of the following dates: March 3 - annual general meeting at Church House, 2.30 pm; March 6 - Women's World Day of Prayer, to be held in the Salvation Army Citadel at 2 pm.
