Appeals
Shelter Cymru - a donation of £10 was proposed by Clr. Mrs. Leyshon, seconded by Clr. Nash. County Clr. Jon Preston's report Minor injuries provision: Local councillors had been asked to gather data from the GPs, Red Cross, RNLI and chemists to access how the summer minor injuries provision had performed. Information would probably be published by the relevant bodies in due course, however it would be interesting and valuable to gather information from individuals who had had to use the service or knew someone who had. I would be grateful for any feedback, whether it is good or bad. My contact details are shown at the end of this month's report. Outstanding village maintenance: On the clerk's request, I contacted Mr. Codd regarding the outstanding maintenance tasks within the village. To summarise, these jobs included the sign at Trevayne Farm, the bin at the bus shelter, the dip in the road at Hunters Park, the seat near Waterwynch and the pipe at the bus shelter. I asked Mr. Codd if he could provide a forecasted date for the completion of the works or a reason for non-completion. Mr. Codd responded stating that these works would be attended to after the August Bank Holiday. Swallowtree Woods: Due to the summer period, it had been difficult to organise a meeting with all interested parties regarding the areas of responsibility at Swallowtree Woods. I will now contact the relevant officers of Pembrokeshire County Council, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Hean Castle estate and residents of Swallowtree Woods who wish to attend with a view to agreeing a suitable date and location to hold this meeting. I hope to have a date set prior to the end of October. County Councillor contact: It may be down to the pleasant weather or that things are running well within the village as I have received very few calls this month. I would just like to remind residents that they may contact me on my private email address: [email protected]">[email protected], on my landline on (01834) 842341 or my mobile on 07792289021. I am also able to raise any queries at Pembrokeshire County Council on your behalf. I will always seek to resolve your issue in a timely manner and keep you informed of the outcome. Village matters
Dog fouling: Clr. Mrs. Leyshon reported that she had read a report where a gentleman had purchased a large number of small flags, the idea being that a flag is inserted in to the dogs excrement on the pavement, people will see it to avoid stepping in the mess, and also it highlights the problem for all to see. The chairman thanked Mrs. Leyshon for her report and agreed that it was an interesting development which if implemented may well reduce what is a constant problem. Litter within the village: There did not appear to be a great problem at the present time. It was agreed to continue to monitor. It was reported that there was some litter outside the village hall, however, it was agreed to await the outcome of the Ironman event to see how the litter problem unfolded this year. Last year, there was a problem where local residents had acted to clear litter near their property Repositioning the bin near the bus shelter opposite Cross Park: This matter was now being dealt with by County Clr. J. Preston. Street light, Cross Park: Clr. Howard Rawson Humphries passed a list of faulty street lights to the clerk which included two faulty lights at Cross Park. The clerk would pass the list to Pembrokeshire County Council for attention. Footpath, Knightston Bottom: Clr. Howard Rawson Humphries reported that he had checked the footpath earlier that day. All the trees had been removed that were obstructing the footpath. It was agreed to thank County Clr. Preston who had assisted in getting this footpath restored to an acceptable level. Seat near the Village Hall: A new seat had been purchased for this position. It was agreed to request Mr. A. Brace to remove and dispose of the old seat, to prepare a new base and install the new seat. Playing Field and Village Hall Clr. J. Butland advised that the work to implement the safety repairs were almost complete. The firm were looking into some small modifications and would implement them. Correspondence
The chairman read a letter of thanks from the Village Hall management committee with reference to the recently held commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One. Any other business
The clerk advised the meeting of a complaint from Mrs. Ayling over the local bus route to Haverfordwest. Mrs. Ayling had travelled on a bus that did not have adequate seating for those travelling. Whilst council were sympathetic, they did wonder if it was a seasonal problem. It was agreed to monitor the position closely. The chairman reminded members that he had mentioned the purchase of daffodil bulbs earlier in the year. It was agreed to purchase bulbs and that a request be made to local people for volunteers to have a planting session on Saturday, September 27. It was agreed to meet at the Village Hall at 10 am. Clr. H. Rawson Humphries drew attention to the sign near the roundabout, After a brief discussion, the clerk was requested to make enquiries. The next meeting of council will be Tuesday, October 14, at 6.30 pm.
