Rev. Nanette Lewis Head led worship on Trinity Sunday and welcomed the congregation with the words, "Great and loving God we greet you this day." The choir had sung the Introit, 'Holy, Holy, Holy', accompanied by Mrs. Sheila Noot, and Dylan had read the young people's call to worship. A few minutes silence were observed as a mark of respect for Mrs. Margaret Edwards who sadly died last week. She had been a faithful member of St. Johns since coming to Tenby from Treorchy, roots she never forgot. Margaret was a lovely lady who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, as testified by the many people who attended her funeral on Tuesday. Nanette asked the congregation also to think of the people of Burma and China as they try to come to terms with the natural disasters that have struck their respective countries. Our prayers are very much needed as they struggle for survival from day to day. To illustrate the Holy Trinity to the children, Nanette used three props, an orange, a bag of sugar and a glass of water. The three parts when joined together make one whole - marmalade. Similarly, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three parts of one whole. On Trinity Sunday we are reminded of God's love, we are encircled in the love of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The young people then left for their own worship to develop this theme further. Mrs. Liz Storey read from the Old Testament, Isaiah chapter 40, verses 12-17 and 25-31. The New Testament reading was Matthew chapter 28, verses 16-20. May God bless the reading of his word. "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew chapter 28, verse 19). The disciples were sent out to proclaim the gospel and to baptise. "Why are people still responding to this living Christ today?" This was the question Nanette asked as she began her address. The truth is that people are still meeting Jesus at turning points in their lives today. Christ still lives and reigns and touches the hearts of men and women. This encounter is very personal. We are the people who must now articulate what this means to us and go out and proclaim the good news. As part of Vision4 Life at St. Johns over the next few months we will be embarking on a process that will help us to bring the faith to communities. People are brought to Jesus when they share their experiences, sharing how God has acted in their lives. We are now part of the pilgrim people sharing the journey of faith in the company of the risen Lord. Thank you, Nanette, for leading us forward in faith. Mrs. Winifred Hewlings is now unfortunately back in Withybush Hospital. Nanette reported that she was quite comfortable after her hip operation. We wish her a speedy recovery and send her our love. After prayers of Intercession, the choir sang the blessing 'God to enfold you' and the Grace was shared by the congregation. Thanks go to everyone whose contribution enhanced the worship. This Sunday's worship will be at 11 am and will be led by the Rev. Dr. D. Owen. Everyone is welcome.
