Sunday morning's worship was conducted by members of the church and was introduced by Marlys Thomas. The call to worship was given by Lara of the junior church. The service was based on advancement through life and Janet then produced a rather distressed plant to illustrate what happens when plants, as well as people, are not cared for. Rachel Bonser read the prayers. Nanette then put in a surprise appearance to wish both Lara and Rachel a happy birthday. After the children had left for their studies, Margaret Day read from Mark, chapter 4, verses 1 -9, which was the story of the sower of the seeds and this theme was continued in the prayers read by Lew Day. The singing group then sang 'St. Patrick's Breastplate'. Ann Maggs followed this with a talk and a display illustrating the reading from Mark. Following a hymn, Carol Thomas used the collage, which had been made at the recent Labyrinth Day, showing the steps taken by people through their lives and asking the congregation what was the next step in their life. The quartet of Bron, Pat, Graham and Ron then sang. Brenda Harris gave a short talk about the Labyrinth, it's significance and what many who had taken part in the day had gained from it. Prayers of intercession were read by Gwen Nicholl and the service ended with the saying of the blessing to each other. Marlys ended by thanking everyone who had taken part in the service, including Sheila Noot accompanying the singing on the organ. This Sunday's service will be at 10.30 am and will be conducted by the Rev. Alan Wilcocks. From July 1, all Sunday morning services will commence at 11 am.
