The service last Sunday was celebrated by the Rev. Shirley Raynor, curate of the Benefice. In her address, she said that two of the best known parables had been read in the gospel of the day - the parable of the lost sheep and the parable of the lost coin.

At the time Jesus told these stories, he was well aware that the law teachers and pharisees were fault-finding and muttering against him, because Jesus was associating and welcoming 'bad' people. On his way he told his followers that God never stops caring, he goes out of his way to welcome the lost back and that everybody who is found and returns to God is cause for celebration and unlike his critics and enemies, God looks for a way to bring them back without bitterness and recrimination.

The Rev. Shirley said she was glad the demonstrations planned by some marking the sad anniversary of 9/11 were stopped - we should be remembering God's love and that all have worth in his name.

There is no service at St. James this Sunday, but a united group service at St. Florence Church starting at 10 am when some of the 'Walk St. Davids' team will be sharing their Christian faith.

A warm welcome is extended to all.
