At the Eucharist service last Sunday, the vicar, Rev. Victor Millgate, reminded everyone that they had now entered Trinity season and thinking of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost and of how their Christian lives developed and grew with the understanding of the Three in One.
Christ often spoke to his disciples in parables which give an illustration of how faith grows and spreads from small beginnings, often in every day occurrences. It was in these everyday situations that they should show to others how their faith strengthened their days; it was important to live their lives worthy of their discipleship.
After the service, Fair Trade goods were available to purchase.
The past week was very busy for St. James parishioners and the weather was superb for their 'Open Gardens', with visitors swelling the numbers and providing a very good boost for church funds. Also a big thank you to Mr. and Mrs. N. Bean for their generous gift of strawberries for the cream teas; also to the many people who prepared and served food.
Many will know that the vicar, Rev. Victor Millgate, is retiring at the end of August after 25 years of the ministry in the parish. A 'leaving present' is being arranged to mark the occasion. If you would like to participate, please send a donation to Sally Thomas at Park Farm, Manorbier, or to the Jameston Shop, in an envelope marked 'Vicar's retirement fund'.
The service this week will be a celebration of Holy Eucharist at 11.15 am. As always, a very warm welcome is extended to all to share in worship and fellowship.
Also a reminder is given that this ancient Norman church is open daily throughout the summer between 9.30 am and 6 pm - you are very welcome to enjoy the lovely heritage.
