The Rev. Robin Webley presided over the Easter 5 service on Sunday and the congregation were very pleased to hear that their vicar, the Rev. Victor Millgate, would soon be back in harness. After the Collect, the Old Testament reading was taken from Acts 7: 55-60. Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit and proclaimed that he could see the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God and he was stoned for his words, but he cried out 'Lord do not hold this sin against them.' The New Testament was taken from Peter 2: 2-10 now that you know the Lord is good - rejected by man, but chosen by God and to you who believe will never be put to shame, but to those who do not believe, they stumble because they disobey the message. In the Holy Gospel according to St. John, he says Trust in God, trust also in me - in my Father's house there are many rooms and I go there to prepare a room for you.
