The Evensong service last Sunday was led by the vicar, Rev. Victor Millgate. He said that this Sunday, known as Septuagesima Sunday, was the first of three pre-Lent Sundays when we will be preparing for the Season of Lent. In his sermon, referring to the readings and Collect (Songs of Praise and Colossians), he said that God created us all as equals, not necessarily in stature or in what we do, but equal as people of the same importance to God and none should put themselves, no matter who or what we are, above another - we should seek the wisdom of God in all we do. We should not be afraid of responsibility, but humble and show his wisdom as we try to do his work bringing others to share the love of Christ. There was a lovely selection of Fair Trade goods available for purchase after the service. The service this week is Holy Eucharist on Sunday at 11.15 am. A warm welcome is extended to everyone.
