Food for the soul was definitely on the menu last Saturday at St. Issell’s, Church Saundersfoot.

Our Great Church Bake Off was a super event bringing competitors from many local churches and organisations together.

The quality of the baking was high, with rosettes awarded for first second and third position in the categories of celebratory cakes, puddings, biscuits, bread and cup cakes. Overall winner was Mrs. Dawn Howells for her splendid coffee and walnut cake a real family favourite!

Our judges were none other than our in-house cake expert, eating that is not baking, Rev. Marianne! And special thanks go to Pam from the local WI for her wisdom and baking knowledge - the judging was difficult, tasting all that home baked goodness was a real trial by icing sugar!

The afternoon tea courtesy of our bakers was enjoyed by all washed down with pots-full of tea lovingly prepared by church family and spoonfuls of laughter. Many thanks to all the entrants and those who enjoyed afternoon tea.

Our next event will be on Wednesday, March 1, at 11 am, for our St. David’s Day celebration followed by cawl lunch will be £5 per person. To book your place, contact Rev. Marianne at [email protected] or 812375 - a warm welcome awaits you here at St. Issell’s.

Services for the forthcoming week are Sung Eucharist on Sunday, at 10.30 am, and Said Eucharist on Wednesday at 10 am. Please do come and join us.
