At a last month's meeting of St. Florence Community Council, members were informed that the new noticeboard for Gumfreston was near completion and would be delivered to Clr. A. Johns. Discussions were ongoing over the trimming of branches on Eastern Lane and members were told they would probably be trimmed in the near future. The earth/rubble by Greenhill Hotel had not been moved. Further investigations were to be made on the ownership of this land. The line rental on the telephone in the Village Hall had been changed to a cheaper rate. It was agreed that a meeting would be arranged to discuss the play areas. Representatives from another community council would be invited along to advise the council on the best way forward. Enquiries were to be made with Pembrokeshire County Council as to whether seating could be placed in the bus shelter situated on the road out of St. Florence. The booking clerk had agreed to continue in her role for a further month. The Tanyard Centre in Pembroke was to be approached to ascertain whether they would be in a position to take the skateboard equipment from the Village Hall. A representative from Pembrokeshire County Council was to visit Longstone and carry out an inspection of the work carried out on the properties there.

PLANNING

Laurel Cottage - extension/refurbishment (no objection). Land adjacent to Valley View, Devonshire Drive - bungalow (council objected to this application as the proposed dwelling was not within a village area and as the site was a greenfield site, it would not be in keeping with the surrounding area). New Inn Farm, St. Florence -conversion of outbuilding to dwelling (no objection). Land adjacent to Elm Grove, St. Florence - six residential units (council objected to this application on the grounds that they believed that the site was a greenfield area and not identified within the JUDP for development). Renewal of gaming licence at Manor House (no objection). Lyndham, St. Florence - retention of works at variance (council was concerned that Pembrokeshire County Council had not supplied them with enough information on this application to make a decision. It was resolved to contact the county council to find out why the building works had been stopped and request that they forward more information to the community council in order that they can reach a decision).

CORRESPONDENCE

Correspondence was read out from Allianz Cornhill. The insurance cover for the Village Association was in order for their forthcoming fund-raising events. It was resolved that the First Aid box from the Village Hall be used at the forthcoming fund-raising event and any items replaced. It was resolved that the tender for the grass cutting should be accepted from the cricket club and that the village grass strimming should continue as last year. An e-mail was received from Pembrokeshire County Council which advised that they were monitoring the situation regarding the recent planning applications at Clock House, St. Florence, and Heatherton.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS The offer of a piano for the Village Hall was to be accepted. The grant for the church was to be discussed at the April meeting. It was resolved that the community council should donate £25 to the Luncheon Club to celebrate its 10th anniversary. A working party was to be set-up to review the hall hire charges. The clerk was to contact Pembrokeshire County Council and advise them that two streetlights were not working and request they be fixed. The clerk was also to request that the county council inspect the play equipment as some of it appeared to be quite rusty and in need of painting, and that they investigate the pool of water at Heatherton further as it had reappeared. The next meeting will be on April 18 at 7.30 pm.
