Kilgetty Begelly Community Council look set to step in to save Kilgetty’s public toilets.

The Community Council has indicated that it is willing to accept responsibility for maintaining Kilgetty Public Conveniences, however, two actions are necessary to enable the transfer to take place, with county councillor for the ward Cllr Alistair Cameron set to outline matters at a full council meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council on Thursday, May 8

For the transfer of responsibility for Kilgetty Public Conveniences from Pembrokeshire

County Council to the Community Council, Cllr Cameron will state:

• That the County Council needs to terminate its lease with the Co-op to enable the Community Council to negotiate a new lease.

• That the County Council needs to undertake repairs and maintenance work on the public conveniences so that they are in a fit state for the Community Council to take them over.

Cllr Cameron is set to ask for the relevant Cabinet Member(s) to indicate how much progress has been made against these two actions; and confirm that until the County Council have completed the two actions (ie terminated the lease with the Coop and undertaken the necessary repairs and maintenance work to bring the public conveniences up to an acceptable standard) there will be no requests for maintenance payments made to Kilgetty Begelly Community Council
