Thirty-five pupils from Tenby Junior School took part in the Pembrokeshire Cross Country Championship at Oakwood

With 42 schools entering, the competition was tough.

The course was a long one. Year 5 and 6 had to complete it twice and for parents and teachers watching it was enough to get you out of breath!

Tenby did extremely well, with some medal and trophy winners.

Daniel Fairlie came ninth in the Year 4 boys race. Daniel Edwards came ninth. Josh Koop came 10th in the Year 6 boys and Miranda Davies earned herself a trophy by coming second in the Year 6 girls race.

In the team events, Tenby also had some good placings, with Year 3 girls coming fourth, Year 4 boys sixth, Year 6 girls second and Year 6 boys second. The school came fourth overall.

Congratulations to all the runners who took part and a big thank you to all those parents who helped with transport.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

TOURNAMENT

On Friday, September 26, Tenby junior girls football team set off over to Greenhill for a girls football tournament.

We had to wait around for a while before our first match. Our first match was against Narberth School. We had good tackling from Nia and Elena up front and great goalie skills from Natalie. The final score was 0-0.

Our next match was against Fishguard. They looked like a tough team to beat, although so were we. We battled and battled until they managed to sneak in a goal. The final score was 1-0 to Abergwaun.

We then played a match against Stepaside. They had won all their matches so far and unfortunately their winning streak carried on. The final score was 3-0 to Stepaside.

Next we played Letterston and they didn't look very tough, although we were still going to have to play at our best. Sarah and Nia scored some marvellous goals, with Chelsea and little Bethan playing well in midfield. The final score was 6-0 to Tenby.

Coming up we had to play a match against St. Teilo's; they looked like a tough team to beat. In the end we drew 1-1.

Our final match was against Holyname. We tried our best and it paid off with two goals by Elena. The final score was 2-0 to Tenby Junior.

Overall we came fourth in our group and fifth out of all the teams in the tournament.

Team: Elena Ciccoti, Nia Thomas, Bethan Osborne, Chelsea Rees, Natalie Johnson, Hannah Lloyd, Sarah McLaren, Roxanne Paxton and Bethan Davies.
