Sir,
Please allow me to express my thanks to Tenby and indeed Pembrokeshire for the kindness shown by local people to my recent visitor from Italy, Fredi Luchesi. All extended a splendid welcome, whether Tenby Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett, the Rotary Club in Saundersfoot, members of local groups, or friends and family. Thank you.
Susan Biggin,
High Street,
Tenby.
PS. In reference to recent correspondence in your columns regarding transport (William Bennet Rogers, September 21 and 28), I would add my plea for improved transport (train, plane) to our part of the world. My visitor came to Tenby under a business arrangement, important to a number of parties including myself. The visit was timed to coincide with the Tenby Arts Festival.
The closest airport for my visitor was Bristol; as a consequence of his afternoon flight arrival he ended up taking a taxi from Cardiff in order to reach Tenby that same day.
He returned to Italy on a Sunday - an unsurprising choice for a businessman. The journey was awkward again (10 hours from Tenby to Bristol take-off), there being no Sunday morning trains out of Tenby.
