FOLLY Farm will be the place to be on Whitsun Bank Holiday when the American band 'Cathead Dooly' headlines three nights of family entertainment during the Texaco Charity Weekend between tomorrow (Saturday) and Monday.
Jetting in from Atlanta, the five-piece band are set to perform old and new country classics, Texas two-step, southern country rock, plus their own compositions including one specially written for their Pembrokeshire debut.
Band members include Aubrey Ray (guitar, mandolin and lead vocals), Brian Whitehead (flattop guitar and lead vocals), Keith Dean (guitar, pedal-steel guitar and vocals), Chuck Spivey (bass guitar and vocals) and band leader, Bruce Allen (drums, accessory percussion and vocals).
The expected sell-out audiences will get the first chance to hear 'Cathead Dooly' live tomorrow (Saturday) when they join up on the Follies Theatre stage with the men of the South Wales Male Choir, plus artistes for the 'Sights and Sounds in Wales' (although it's not likely that they will sing the same music together).
"Who knows though," says Bruce from his home in Macon, Georgia, "I reckon Welshmen can sing anything!"
The Band will also be the first to perform on stage in the Follies Theatre now complete with new seats on Sunday night during the 'Good Lord' Gala Dinner in aid of the Noah's Ark Appeal.
But it's on Monday for 'Money and Rock' when 'Cathead Dooly' teams up with Owen Money and 'The Soulsharks' that the wide ranging talent of the band will really be heard.
Concert tickets are available from Folly Farm on (01834) 812731 or all Pembrokeshire branches of Woolworths. The price includes free Fun Fair rides and book now to avoid disappointment
