Members of South Pembrokeshire Hunt have recently enjoyed another highly successful Hunt Week.

Staged between November 20 and 25, the week featured various meets and social activities. "We had a wonderful week," said Hunt Week chairman, Dennis Reed.

"Although the weather was dreadful, we were lucky it stayed dry for the meets," he added.

The week began with a meet at Kilgetty Farm (by kind invitation of Martin Duffy) on the Monday, followed in the evening by the Charity Trivia Quiz at Swallow Tree Gardens, Saundersfoot. Questionmaster was Roger Knight and the winning team was the Tenby Vets.

Tuesday saw the first of the Variety Shows at the RAOB Club, Kilgetty, the second being on the Thursday.

"Both shows were well supported and very well received by the appreciative audiences," said Dennis.

A meet was held at East Tarr, kindly hosted by Heather Williams and family on the Wednesday, while on the Saturday, the meet at Trevayne was hosted by the Hunt Week committee.

The Howells Trophy for best turned out junior combination was retained by Alice Simon riding Rolo. The judge for the competition was Paddy Davies, who presented Alice with the trophy. Among those at Trevayne was young Felicity Grigg, riding Freddy, who was attending her first ever meet.

On Saturday evening, the Hunt Ball returned after a 12-year absence to the De Valence, Tenby. Dancing was to the Night Crew, while Ed James provided the disco.

"We had a marvellous evening and the hall was beautifully decorated by the ladies from the De Valence," added Dennis.

The celebrations came to a close the following Tuesday, November 28, with the Charity Night Show at the RAOB Club, Kilgetty.

Again another successful and enjoyable evening was held and the magnificent sum of £1,400 was raised for the British Heart Foundation in memory of Peter Williams (Hunt chairman).
