LADIES' SECTION

For three Wednesdays in February, the ladies have been able to get out and play the winter 14-hole stableford competitions. On the fourth week, the course was saturated and buggies not allowed, while the mist and rain also prevented any enjoyable play.

The winner of the 14-hole stableford on Wednesday was Lynne Rees with 19 points, with Carole Blackwell second on 17 (on the back five from Sara Davies).

On February 9, the winner was Jane Parsons with 21 points and the runner-up was Carole Blackwell with 20.

The winner of the competition on Wednesday, February 16, was Viv James with 24 points and the runner-up was Mary Lewis with 23.

The season beginning on March 2 will now give us all an opportunity to play all 18 holes, commencing with the GUW Medal, and the start of the spring eclectic.

This season's captain, Ria Phillips, will open play with the usual captain's drive in. Best wishes and good luck, Ria!

TASTER SESSIONS

Last year, the club was very lucky to obtain the services of Robert Ryder, well known and highly respected golf professional and Dyfed County and Welsh staff coach.

Ladies and gents taster sessions for beginners, followed by a series of lessons, resulted in several new players joining the club.

If you missed your opportunity to learn golf last year, it is not too late. A free ladies taster session will be held on Sunday, March 27, 10.30 am - 12 noon, and for gents on Sunday, April 3, also 10.30 am - 12 noon (all weathers), equipment supplied.

To book a place, telephone club secretary, Mr. Peter Fisher, on 01646 621453.
