South Pembrokeshire Hunt branch of the Pony Club recently sent three teams to compete in the area pony club quiz.
The event, held in Aberystwyth, was organised by the Gorgeddan Pony Club and is a qualifier for the national finals to be held in April at Stoneleigh.
Unfortunately, this year the South Pembs. teams were all very young and many were competing out of age as the branch has so few senior members.
Despite this, they all did really well and enjoyed the day. A big thank you to the mums and dads who gave up their day to help invigilate, without whom the competition would not have taken place.
Each team is made up of four team members, one mini aged under 12, a junior aged under 14, a junior under 16 and a senior under 21, and the South Pembs. teams were as follows:
The Long Necks team was Cethin Ravenhill, Felicity Grigg, Ele Scourfield and Abi Meyrick.
The Wise Owls team was Gabriella Hughes, Harriet Morgan, Izzy Meyrick and Anna Morgan.
The Cheeky Monkeys team was Kate Harris, Jodie Brace, Beth Williams and Emma Morgan.
The Cheeky Monkeys team was particularly young and, although they finished out of the rosettes, they all did well as some of the questions were particularly hard.
Meanwhile, well done to the Long Necks, who came an excellent third, and the Wise Owls, who came fourth.
Many of the team members are now busy preparing for the horse and pony care quiz which takes place in Pembrey during the Easter holidays.
They have a tough task, however, to equal last year's performance when both teams qualified for the national finals which take place during the summer holidays in Derbyshire.
